Description
1 Day / SOFIA - RUPITE - ROZHEN MONASTERY - MELNIK
In the morning at 09:00 o’clock we will meet behind St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral in Sofia. We set off on a highway to Rupite and after 2.30 hours drive we will be there. Rupite is a protected area famous for its healing mineral springs and the place is also related to the prophet Vanga, and by this it attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists. The next tourist sight in our programme is the biggest monastery in the Pirin Mountain named Rozhen monastery – please note the road access to the monastery is too limited for big vehicles such as buses so the tourists who want to see the monastery should walk about 1 km on a steep path – it’s not suitable for disabled people.
Just 7 km away from Rozhen Monastery is Melnik town – the smallest town in Bulgaria. In Melnik you will have 1 free hour to have a lunch after which we will continue with the walking tour including Kordopulov house where the most impressive is the wine cellar – the largest in Melnik. We will take you in a place where you will enjoy an overview to the earth pyramids – here is the best place for photo session. At around 17:00 o’clock we will make check-in in the local hotel. Overnight in Melnik.
2 Day / MELNIK - BANSKO - RILA MONASTERY - SOFIA
After having a good night's sleep and a nice breakfast in the hotel we will visit Bansko city. Bansko is nestled at the foot of the Pirin mountain and the old city still preserves the spirit of Revival Bulgaria with its stone-paved streets, old wooden houses, ethnographic houses. All this style is combined with the big diversity of new hotels and apartment houses as Bansko is world famous ski resort and is growing more and more with each passing year. Here we will make a walk in the old town and will visit the church of the Holy Triniti which is one of the emblems in the town. In Bansko we will make our lunch break.
The last station in our programme is Rila Monastery which is among the most popular tourist attractions in whole Bulgaria. The monastery is located in Rila Mountain and is a complex of cultural, dwelling and farming buildings which take about 8800 square meters. The guide will explain about the history and architecture of the monastery and then will give you enough free time so to be able to see over the complex and to make photos. At 16:00 o’clock we take our way back to Sofia where should arrive around 18:00 o’clock.
