MELNIK, RUPITE AND ROZHEN MONASTERY TOUR

  For wine lovers and those who simply like the warm and picturesque places – this tour is the perfect one. Melnik is the smallest city in Bulgaria – with a population of 385 people only. The town has been famous for producing strong wine since at least 1346. Melnik is situated at the foot of beautiful sand pyramids located on 17 square km around the town.
  The starting point is behind St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral at 08:30 o’clock. With this tour you will visit first the mystery area of Rupite – the Saint Petka Bulgarska temple built with money donated by Grandma Vanga (the woman-wonder who has predicted a lot of the events in Bulgaria and in the world), and the healing mineral springs where the water temperature could be up to 75°C. The energy here is very strong and special and you should stop for a while to feel it.
  After this incredible place we are going to visit Melnik which is 33 km away from Rupite. Over there we will stop to take our lunch after which we will make a walk in the town and will visit Kordopulov house where the most impressive is the wine cellar – the largest in Melnik, dug in the limestone rock. In Melnik you can buy different types of traditional bulgarian wine.
 
  Our last stop during this tour is Rozhen monastery „St. Nativity of Mother of God” (7 km away from Melnik) – the biggest monastery in the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria. Please note the road access to the monastery is too limited for big vehicles such as buses so the tourists who want to see the monastery should walk about 1 km on a steep path.
